The Moral Rearmament Association Egypt was founded in 1988 and has a long history of organizing activities for peace in Egypt. From May 27 to June 6, 2009 they presented the first Arabic edition of the film the Imam and the Pastor at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Cairo University , the American University in Cairo and other locations in Egypt. For this they invited Imam Muhammad Ashafa and Pastor James Wuye from Nigeria and producer Dr. Emad Karam to visit Egypt. During this visit it was agreed to cooperate with the Center for Arab-West Understanding, the Center for Intercultural Dialogue and Translation and the Stichting Arab-West Foundation in Egypt for Peace.
The Moral Rearmament Association Egypt is linked to Initiatives of Change International, a diverse network committed to building relationships of trust across the world's divides. Initiatives of Change International is an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.
In 2009, the Moral Rearmament Association awarded the co-founders of CAWU, Drs. Cornelis Hulsman and Eng. Sawsan Gabra Ayoub Khalil in recognition of their work for peace.
